Position Description

We are seeking an inhouse attorney with 3-5 years of legal experience to join our in-house legal team. This role will support the needs of QIAGEN, an innovative biotechnology company, by advising the business on legal and compliance issues, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of agreements.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and will play a key role in helping manage legal risks while supporting business objectives.

- Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret a broad range of contracts, including:





    • Customer sales agreements
    • Licensing agreements
    • Research and development agreements
    • Confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs)
    • Material transfer agreements (MTAs)
    • Clinical trial agreements
    • Master services agreements (MSAs)
    • Vendor and consultant contracts




- Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, R&D, operations, business development, finance, procurement, intellectual property, quality, and regulatory colleagues to ensure alignment and contract compliance.

- Assist in developing and maintaining contract templates.

- Assist and advise business colleagues in identifying and navigating legal issues across a wide range of subject areas. Facilitate input from external advisers as necessary and appropriate.

- Support corporate governance and other legal functions as needed.


Position Requirements

- J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.

- 3-5 years of relevant legal experience in contract drafting and negotiation both in a law-firm and in-house practice (ideally in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry).

- Familiarity with key regulatory frameworks impacting biotech (e.g., FDA regulations, HIPAA, data privacy) is a plus.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with legal and non-legal stakeholders.

- Commercial and pragmatic mindset with attention to detail, organizational, and time-management skills.

- Efficient work style.

- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.



Personal Requirements

Location: Germantown, Maryland office

The estimated base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $175,000. Compensation will be based on the candidate's experience, skills, geographic location, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary, we offer a total compensation package that includes a bonus plan and generous benefits.
