Hourly Pay Range:

$30.46 - $45.69 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

  • Position: Denial Management Analyst-Coding
  • Location: Warrenville IL
  • Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-430pm, hybrid

A Brief Overview:
The Denial Management Analyst-Coding is responsible for analyzing and resolving coding-related denials and rejections from payers. This role ensures accurate documentation and compliant coding practices to support timely reimbursement. The analyst collaborates closely with coding staff, clinical documentation specialists, billing teams, and payers to identify trends and develop solutions to reduce recurring denials.

What you will do:

  • Review and analyze coding-related denials (e.g., CPT/ICD-10 mismatches, Incorrect/Invalid Modifier, medical necessity denials).
  • Conduct root cause analysis of denial trends and provide feedback to coding and documentation teams.
  • Prepare appeal letters with appropriate clinical and coding references to support claims.
  • Track denial metrics and generate regular reports for leadership.
  • Assist in development and delivery of education to coding and clinical teams regarding denial trends and prevention strategies.
  • Participate in cross-functional denial management meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations (e.g., CMS guidelines) and payer-specific requirements.
  • Utilize electronic health records (EHR), coding software (e.g., Epic, Encoder Pro, Optum), and denial management tools (e.g., Epic Work queues).
  • Support audits and assist in pre- and post-bill coding reviews as needed.

What you will need:

  • Education: Associate's or comparable years of experience
  • Certification: CPC or other AAPC credentials or RHIA, RHIT or CCS
