Purpose/ Summary The Engineering Manager provides the required oversight, input and direction to assure that manufacturing process directions, tooling concepts and designs meet or exceed all internal program goals (ease of manufacture, cost effective manufacturing and profitability) as well as all customer requirements (quality and delivery). The successful candidate will relentlessly apply the principles of the Pursuit Production System (PPS) to continuously improve first time yield, scrap, cost, quality and delivery performance. The Engineering Manager will directly manage engineers responsible for forge part design, tooling, fixture and gage design & development. The Engineering Manager will also provide guidance and training for engineers directly managed by Business Unit Managers. The Engineering Manager relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while leading and directing the efforts of the Engineering staff. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities The job has direct management responsibility for three engineering personnel and matrix (dotted line) responsibility for an additional four engineers. Also supervise a Customer Service Representative and associated activities. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related technical field. Minimum ten years' experience in related industry with minimum 3 years in a supervisory role. Must have proficient computer skills in various design programs and Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 6 sigma, complex technical product knowledge.
