Job Title: Clinical Supervisor - Mental Health & Substance Abuse Counseling

SUMMARY:
We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Supervisor to lead the daily operations of our counseling services for patients struggling with substance abuse and/or mental health challenges. Serving a diverse population ranging from adolescents to adults, you will guide clinical staff, oversee treatment activities, and ensure that every patient receives compassionate, high-quality care. This role makes critical decisions about patient needs, intervenes during crises, provides emergency consultations, and reviews all referrals for treatment, assigning cases to the appropriate team members.



PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • Assist the Program Director in shaping program philosophy, policies, and procedures, and resolving personnel or patient care issues.



  • Supervise and support daily activities of counseling and therapeutic staff working with adolescents, adults, and families. Provide input on hiring, disciplinary actions, and terminations when necessary.



  • Develop and maintain partnerships with referral sources within and beyond the local community.



  • Monitor patient counseling and therapy services through supervisory conferences, chart reviews, direct observation, and related methods.



  • Design treatment approaches for complex cases or patients with special needs.



  • Make court appearances and provide testimony when approved by the Program Director.



  • Participate in patient intake committee meetings and assist with decisions regarding patient acceptance into the program, including special provisions for patients with violent or suicidal behaviors.



  • Ensure compliance with treatment plans and program protocols, meeting all standards set by government regulatory bodies and Medical Center policies.



  • Perform direct patient assessments to determine the extent of substance use, addiction, or mental health needs, and recommend appropriate treatment plans and follow-up care.



  • Develop reports, graphs, and statistical data for the Program Director and submit required information to regulatory agencies such as the Drug Abuse Administration and the State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.



  • Design assessment tools, forms, and related documentation as needed.



  • Supervise clerical and administrative operations within the assigned area, ensuring effective office systems to support daily activities.





REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:




  • Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a closely related field.



  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience.



  • Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) or Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) required.



  • Strong analytical skills to address complex clinical issues and enhance or upgrade systems and programs as needed.



  • Effective communication and leadership skills to direct, monitor, and support the work of assigned staff; must be comfortable providing performance feedback, enforcing policies, and supporting professional growth.



  • Must complete the Training Checklist for Managers and Supervisors (outlined in the Management Development Training Catalog).

Salary Range: Minimum $37.87/hour - Maximum $66.28/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
