About the Job

The Labor Relations Consultant will partner with internal stakeholders to implement short- and long-term strategies for labor relations. The Labor Relations Consultant will execute a body of work requiring independent judgement and analysis in the advance of effective labor relations and strategic contract negotiations. The role manages contract implementation projects once the University has reached agreement with applicable unions. The position oversees grievance tracking analytics. The position reports to the Assistant Director, Labor Relations.

Role and Responsibilities:
* Leads as second chair for union contract negotiations.
* Develop processes and procedures for official bargaining and labor relations records.
* Analyze grievance patterns, trends, and metrics with reporting of strategic LR opportunities.
* Manage the contract implementation process, including the development of resources and partnership with stakeholders to support contract implementation.
* Create and communicate the labor relations training schedule for leaders and HR personnel across system campuses.
* Manage and track all labor relations PELRA data requests.
* Develop processes, procedures, and recordkeeping of strike contingency plans.
* Manage all labor-management committees (LMCs), including tracking and follow through on union and management topics.
* Develop and maintain processes for the University collective bargaining agreement interpretations manuals.
* Prepare collective bargaining summaries, communication, and documentation for senior leaders and the Board of Regents regarding collective bargaining

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
* BA/BS in Human Resources or related field with six (6)+ years of related experience.
* Demonstrated labor relations experience.
* Strong understanding of labor and employment laws.
* Evidence of excellent written and oral communication skills, to include public speaking.
* Demonstrated experience in effectively participating in collaborative, team-oriented environments with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency in using Google Suite and Microsoft Excel.
* Strong interpersonal relationship skills.
* Experience facilitating and leading teams.

Preferred Qualifications
* Prior experience working with union contract negotiations, managing and resolving union grievances, and facilitating labor-management committees (LMCs).
* Prior experience managing complex HR topics requiring stakeholder input.
* Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, project management capabilities, and the ability to excel in recording, documenting, and following through on complex topics.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $112,000.00 - $124,000.00; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment Category: 75%-100% Appointment (If job description above does not specify appointment or expected weekly hours, assume a 100% appointment.)
