Position Overview:
Kitware seeks a curious and motivated Associate Communications Specialist to help position the company as a leader in scientific and technical innovation through clear, compelling, and engaging content.
This role is ideal for someone looking to launch their marketing or communications career. You'll gain hands-on experience across a wide range of marketing responsibilities, with strong support from our collaborative team. Your primary focus will be collaborating with technical teams to write and edit marketing content-including blog posts, social media updates, and email newsletters-that communicates Kitware's capabilities to external audiences.

We're looking for a strong communicator who is eager to learn, comfortable using digital tools, and excited to distill complex information into clear messaging. This is a great opportunity to build your marketing skill set while contributing to impactful work in science and technology.

In This Position You Will:
  • Assist in writing and editing content for Kitware's website, social media platforms, newsletters, press releases, and other external communications.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to brainstorm content ideas and develop messaging that highlights Kitware's technical expertise.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to gather content, verify technical details, and help ensure messaging accuracy.
  • Help manage Kitware's social media platforms, including scheduling posts and tracking engagement.
  • Support promotional efforts for webinars, conference appearances, and other events by assisting with logistics and content.
  • Assist in tracking the performance of marketing content and campaigns using tools such as Google Analytics, Mailchimp, and Hootsuite.
  • Contribute to the overall marketing calendar and assist in keeping content production on schedule.
  • Learn and apply best practices in marketing communications tailored to scientific and technical audiences.
  • Perform such other assignments as may be required from time to time by management.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, English, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an interest in learning how to translate complex technical topics into accessible content.
  • Basic familiarity with, or willingness to learn, tools such as Google Analytics, Mailchimp, Hootsuite, Canva, and WordPress.
  • Reliable and detail-oriented, with the ability to follow through on tasks, meet deadlines, and manage your workload independently within a collaborative team environment.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively and proactively seeking out information and feedback.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and/or Google Suite.
  • Due to contractual restrictions, only candidates who are U.S. Persons (citizens, permanent residents, asylees, or refugees) will be considered for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated interest in marketing, writing, or communications through coursework, internships, student organizations, or personal projects.
  • An aptitude for visual storytelling or experience with basic design or media editing tools.
  • Interest in science, technology, or open source software.
