Inpatient/Outpatient: 100% inpatient

Case Load: Mixture, mostly adults.

Position Overview:

Henry Ford Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) for a full-time hybrid position in General Surgery and Trauma at Henry Ford St. John Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center in Detroit. This dynamic role is part of an expanded APP team, offering great hours and the opportunity to work across both general surgery and trauma services. Prior APP experience is highly preferred, and ICU experience is required, either as an APP or RN. New graduate APPs will only be considered if they have strong ICU experience. The ideal candidate is a team-oriented clinician with a background in high-acuity settings, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality, multidisciplinary care.



Schedule - Monday - Friday, 8-hours or 10-hours. (10 4s or rotating 12s) Afternoons. 2p-2a or 2p-midnight.

Weekend requirement - Not at this time.

Call requirement - No.

GENERAL SUMMARY: Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care for injured and surgical critical care patients. Takes patient history, performs physical examination, orders, and interprets tests, makes diagnoses, and institutes appropriate treatment. Works in collaboration with trauma and surgical critical care physicians, staff physicians, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently. Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Master's degree in Nursing. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Certified Nurse Practitioner in Michigan. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Michigan. Current ACLS and PALS provider status. Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) provider status within three (3) months of hire.

Qualifications:



* NP - Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)

* PA - Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)

* NP - Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan

* PA - Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)



Licensure and Certification

* Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan, or in process of applying (must have proof of application)

* National certification as an NP or PA (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA)

* Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

* DEA/CSL, required through credentialing.

DEA - NPs do not have controlled substance licenses, only PAs. When NPs apply, they will enter MI license number instead of controlled substance license since they won't have a CSL.



Experience

* Prior APP experience is highly preferred

* ICU experience is required, either as an APP or RN.
