Reports To: Vice President, Architectural Interiors

Position Summary

Develop and grow an Architectural Interiors business in support of Teknion's overall corporate goals. This position will be responsible for the US marketing and sales strategy for this business as well as implementing the tactical plan for its effective development.

Lead and coach the Architectural Interiors Regional Managers in collaboration with Operations: Specification, Project Management, and Field Project Management.

The Director will lead sales contacts for markets without a dedicated Architectural Interiors Regional Manager.

Responsible for Product Development strategies, regional and dealer training, both short-term (project focused) and long-term (new launch) based on market feedback, competitive competencies, emerging trends/markets and complimentary material markets.

Key Job Responsibilities

Sales and Profits

  • Define and gain consensus on sales/profit plan, including annual budget.
  • Develop and implement targeted account plans and programs for major customers/prospects across all channels and market segments.
  • Support the sales effort with programs, training and educational materials to achieve sales and profit targets.
  • Pass knowledge to local markets.

Marketing Strategy

  • Conduct market research (internal and external); Develop sales and marketing tools in support of the sale of Architectural Interiors.
  • Define and gain consensus on the Architectural Interiors 'go to market' strategy which is consistent with Teknion's corporate position, provides market differentiation, and builds a growing and profitable segment.
  • Define and implement required tactical programs to achieve goals.
  • Work with the Corporate Marketing Department on all facets of the marketing and sales strategy including product, pricing, positioning, materials and training program development to ensure an effective offering and successful business unit.

Order Fulfillment

  • Define key roles and responsibilities for effective Architectural Interiors order fulfillment.
  • Work with Operations (US and Toronto) to develop and staff an effective Architectural Interiors organization.
  • Implement processes, including checks and balances, to ensure consistent and effective results.

Product Steering

  • Conduct required market research (internal and external).
  • Define and gain consensus on short and long-term product strategy.
  • Work with product marketing and design engineering on product line development.
  • Work with manufacturing to ensure desired programs are doable and cost effective.
  • Evaluate and develop alliance partnerships and /or potential acquisition lines to enhance the Architectural Interiors offering.
  • Provide forecasts to support product line expansion investments.

Organization Development

  • Work with corporate management, RVP's and regional managers to ensure that an adequate infrastructure for effective development and delivery of the Architectural Interiors offering is possible (short and long term).
  • Develop and train our Teknion sales organization (Regional Vice Presidents and Sales Teams and Public Sector) understand our architectural product offerings, position in the market and sales strategies for closing business.
  • Identify and train key dealers in each major market to cultivate local independent architectural product sales and service units. Work with "tier 2" dealers on as needed project basis.
  • Identify key strengths of Architectural Interiors members and leverage their abilities in their regions. Additionally, have them mentor their colleagues to take advantage of skill sets available to the team.
  • Identify areas in need of improvement for each member and develop strategies and/or training to gain necessary improvements.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with interior architecture, design, and/or construction industries.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills.
  • Ability to effectively present to various groups.
  • Excellent computer skills: Google Suite.
  • Direct and indirect channel marketing/management experience.
  • Ability to successfully contribute to or manage multi-discipline teams/projects.
  • Relentless drive to fuel product line sales and profitability through innovative programs and exceptional service.
  • Solid decision making and organizational development skills.
