THE POSITION

The Enterprise Information Security Office (EISO) is on the lookout for an Information Security Specialist 1 to join the team. In this position, you will independently perform technical work in the administration and maintenance of remote access, advanced authentication, and firewall solutions along with user account management within the centralized EISO security operations unit. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Information Security Specialist 1, you will manage the operation, administration, and maintenance of Security infrastructures and services with a focus on the Public Safety Remote Access (VPN). Work involves independently implementing and maintaining security policies and ACLs to Public Safety networks using the Remote Access VPN. This includes maintaining appropriate infrastructure security, patching and code levels.

You will be expected to administer various delivery center firewalls, delivery center network intrusion prevention, network threat prevention and network monitoring systems including the monitoring of logs. This position assists with investigating, testing, and documenting network access and security measures to ensure compliance with policies and standards. You will have the opportunity to provide primary technical assistance for internet-related issues within the Delivery Center including network troubleshooting and user permissions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, two days per week in office. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Network Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of experience performing technical work in information technology security, network support, or network administration, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or
  • A bachelor's degree in any information technology field.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position requires one or more years of full-time professional IT experience troubleshooting Enterprise networks or Enterprise network related issues.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
  • You must pass criminal history and background investigations if you do not have a current Pennsylvania State Police background on file.
