Meet the Team

The Switching Escalation team is part of the Enterprise Switching Engineering Group in Cisco and manages overall customer experience for our flagship products & solutions in the enterprise space. Enterprise Switching is on the cusp of major transition with the launch of next-generation Catalyst 9000 Switching Family. This is an exciting time to be part of this major transition in enterprise switching business.

Your Impact

In this Software Engineer role, you will be part of a highly technical team that solves critical issues, and manages customer communication and virtual teams. You'll balance hard technical skills with the soft skills required to quickly drive customer issues to closure. You'll maintain end-to-end ownership of efforts to resolve customer issues and help drive improvements in product quality by sharing the field learnings with engineering teams. It's a very dynamic role that requires engaging with Sales/account teams, Marketing, Development, and Test teams.

Minimum Qualifications (Provide up to five (5) bullet points

* Typically requires MSEE/CS or BSEE/CS
* Solid experience in Networking/Security domain
* Excellent Layer 2 and Layer 3 knowledge and experience
* Good understanding of various networking protocols and standards
* Strong passion and experience in troubleshooting, debugging complex systems and possess excellent problem-solving techniques
* Network protocols like TCP/IP, FTP, DHCP, HTTP, Multicast, Routing/switching protocols (OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, STP, VLAN, MPLS, EVPN) knowledge

* Self-motivated, strong sense of ownership, standout colleague

* Ability to balance multiple tasks at once and work independently with minimal managerial guidance.

* Have experience in customer deployments

* Be open to continuous learning and committed to ongoing self-improvement.

* Strong Logical Reasoning and Analytical Capabilities

* Excellent network troubleshooting skills

* Interact with various functions and teams of the product, including Development/Marketing/Sales/Accounts teams.

* Exposure to Cloud Technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure or any other cloud) is a plus

* Exposure to programming/scripting skills using one of more of the programming languages like Python, Perl, TCL is a plus
