Summary:

Goldbelt Professional Services, LLC., is looking for a Librarian II to support for CDC Library Services. This person shall possess general knowledge of all modules of an integrated library system. Expertise with web development tools and the ability to write or modify scripts and programs is essential.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversee the collection of e-resources usage statistics and collaborate with stakeholders across libraries to synthesize data and develop meaningful insights for local decision-making and assessment efforts.
  • Improve user access and discovery to e-resources by anticipating and resolving issues with remote access and authentication products, removing barriers in license and access models, and introducing new technologies.
  • Contribute to licensing, purchase, maintenance, access, renewal or cancellation workflows, analysis and decisions related to e-resource management.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of system data and the distribution of data.
  • Research and evaluate current and/or new software products.
  • Plan, develop, test and implement enhancements to existing systems in a timely manner.
  • Create queries of library systems' databases and create spreadsheets of the results.
  • Troubleshoot access issues with electronic resources as it relates to systems/software functioning.
  • Will be required to learn the new systems and develop standard operating procedures and processes in order to perform the activities related to the above and overall performance, accessibility, maintenance, and availability of online library systems and services.
  • Provide timely, accurate, audience appropriate technical assistance and training to external and internal partners to further the mission of the organization.
  • Manage and take primary responsibility for one or more library systems (such as Primo, Alma, etc.). This includes monitoring, vendor communications, documentation on systems, and planning activities with system(s).
  • Provide technical information and library services in response to requests by CDC staff.
  • Train library staff on complex or novel IT processes, software packages, or modules, as needed.
  • Provide recommendation to management when additional documentation or training of staff or customers is needed, and within time frames needed.
  • Maintain effective collaborations with customers and stakeholders in providing prescribed services and work products.
  • Liaise with library staff, vendors, and organizational technology agents regarding systems deployment, hardware, and client software upgrades, enhancements, and implementations.
  • Liaise with institutional technology support staff regarding management and maintenance of library computers and related technologies.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to plan and coordinate the day-to-day management of the electronic resources workflow.
  • Capable of implementing and analyzing the technical operations of the library.
  • Knowledge of standard library practices, precedents and techniques will be applied to specific cases, problems or situations and in relating new work situations to precedent ones.
  • Ability to manage a range of flexible and readily available systems, designed to help improve the services to the library staff and patrons.
  • Knowledge of how to research requirements of replacement or new systems.
  • Ability to communicate with external vendors to obtain technical specifications of a system and cost analysis.
  • Ability to develop and sustain initiatives that support and foster research, scientific endeavors, intellectual development and knowledge creation by developing tools and support systems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • An ALA accredited master's degree in Library Science
  • Minimum two (2) or more years of experience as a Librarian I.
  • Possesses skill set at full Librarian level and first-line supervisory Librarian level
