We are currently searching for an experienced Senior Bridge Engineer to support our West Region located in Cottonwood Heights, UT or Denver, CO.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, a Utah PE license or Colorado PE license, and 10+ years of experience in bridge design. UDOT or CDOT project experience preferred.

What you'll be doing:

  • Perform/supervise calculations and analysis for designing bridge and transportation structures using various bridge design software programs
  • Perform/supervise load ratings on bridges of various type size and complexity
  • Review calculations and design details developed by others
  • Attend meeting with clients and other professionals and organizations
  • Develop solutions to challenges presented by the client within budget, schedule, and project constraints
  • Review construction related submittals
  • Organize and maintain project files
  • Supervising and mentoring Structural EITs and Interns
  • Assist with marketing bridge and structure design work

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Master of Engineering preferred, but not required
  • Valid Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.)
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in bridge design
  • UDOT or CDOT experience is strongly preferred
  • Skilled in the use of OpenBridge Designer
  • Technical expertise for the layout & design of bridges and related highway structures
  • Familiarity with rehabilitation of existing bridges and highway structures
  • Knowledge of AASHTO and other pertinent bridge design specifications
  • Familiarity of DOT bridge standards and design manuals is strongly preferred
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
  • Valid driver's license
  • A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
