Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, Ambulatory Services Ambulatory Business Unit Full Time 85692BR Job Summary The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing facility resources, ensuring regulatory compliance, coordinating departments, implementing strategic initiatives, maintaining quality standards, and optimizing operational efficiency. The COO ensures efficient delivery of patient care while maintaining operational excellence and financial sustainability. This position requires extensive healthcare management experience and the ability to coordinate multiple departments, from clinical services to support functions.
In collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), and the rest of the Ambulatory BU Senior Executive team, the COO leads overall strategic planning for Ambulatory services. Additionally, the COO provides oversight across several clinical services departments and plays an integral role in implementing UCSF's strategic growth endeavors. The COO will also have an indirect reporting relationship to the Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of UCSF Health. In this role, they will collaborate with the COO and SVP of UCSF Health and their team, and other Business Unit COOs as part of their broader responsibilities within the health system. They will ensure that the Ambulatory BU remains aligned with system-wide standards related to supply chain management, outpatient access, patient experience, and growth. The COO of the Ambulatory BU is responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing facility resources, and ensuring regulatory compliance. This role drives operational efficiency, financial sustainability, and high-quality patient care by coordinating clinical and support departments, implementing strategic initiatives, and aligning goals across programs and affiliate partners. Key responsibilities include managing budgets, resource allocation, and administrative functions; developing operational policies; ensuring adherence to healthcare standards; and leading quality improvement and patient satisfaction efforts. Extensive healthcare management experience is essential for successfully integrating services across the system. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $273,200 - $575,400 (Annual Rate).
