Schedule: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday

Your role with us

As a medical staff coordinator at Salem Health, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the credentialing process, while supporting the vision and strategic plan of our organization. You'll provide professional and technical assistance to medical staff leadership, manage department processes, and contribute to accreditation efforts. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.

What you'll do


  • Manages credentialing process by monitoring and participating in all aspects, including appointment, reappointment, privileging, and temporary privileges.
  • Ensures accurate and timely credentialing by collecting and analyzing information and preparing files for approval.
  • Maintains current and accurate credentialing and privileging files.
  • Supports medical staff leadership by providing professional and technical assistance.
  • Documents meeting minutes accurately, clearly, and concisely in a format compatible with JCAHO-accredited hospital standards.
  • Assists in the orientation of new medical staff members and privileged practitioners.
  • Provides leadership and management support by maximizing automation in department processes.
  • Assists in planning and organizing accreditation efforts to ensure continued accreditation by regulatory bodies.
  • Provides management leadership during the absence of the manager of medical staff services.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory guidelines and assists in process improvement efforts.

Required qualifications

  • An Associate's Degree or four years of experience in a healthcare or administrative support setting may be considered equivalent at the discretion of the hiring manager.

Additional Information

  • A minimum of three years of experience in a medical-related setting is beneficial for this role.
  • Candidates will thrive in this role by possessing a strong foundation in medical staff services principles and the ability to develop and implement process improvements.
  • Success in this role requires excellent leadership, interpersonal, and conflict management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and maintain confidentiality.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills are essential, including the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and compose clear and concise correspondence and reports.
  • A working knowledge of computer software programs, office equipment, and regulatory guidelines is also necessary, along with the ability to read and understand complex documents and handle stressful situations professionally.
