THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will employ diligent project management skills to create rough plans, estimate material quantities, specify parts and materials for purchase, select proper tools and equipment, and prepare all materials for assigned projects. You will also be responsible for the completion ofroutine repairs or replacement of a variety of items such as lights, plumbing valves, switches, and broken glass. Minor interior alterations, servicing clogged plumbing, replacing doors, inspecting and performing minor repairs to roofs, and performing routine adjustments on air conditioners, generators, and other similar building appliances are also encompasses in this position. Additional routine duties will entail snow and ice removal and landscaping and lawn care. The primary focus of this position is to provide quality work to ensure effective and efficient preventative maintenance, repair, and modifications for the assigned buildings and grounds.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours/week.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Wednesday, and 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must possess a minimum of 2 years experience reading blue prints, schematics and diagrams for electrical wiring diagrams of equipment or general carpentry.
  • You must possess a minimum of 2 years experience with drainage and building construction projects.
  • You must possess a minimum of 2 years experience in cost estimation to include bill of materials and supplies.
  • You must possess a minimum of 2 years experience in carpentry such as painting, drywall, and door installation.
  • You must possess a minimum of 2 years experience installing office furniture, shelving and partitions.
  • You must possess a minimum of 2 years experience with carpentry work dealing with roofing and gutters.
  • You must possess two years of experience with general plumbing related to carpentry renovations.
  • You must possess two years of experience performing masonry work of retaining walls.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Two years of general maintenance experience such as:
    • Greasing tools
    • Cleaning filters
    • Seals/gaskets
    • Oil changes of tractors
    • Mowers
    • Chainsaws
    • Leaf blowers
