Overview
The Office of Events is a growing department at Utah State University whose mission is to ensure that university-hosted events, conferences, and programs exceed expectations. We are hiring a marketing intern to help coordinate marketing efforts across the Office of Events and University Inn social media channels, under the direction of the marketing team. This role would attend various events across campus and post experiences across Facebook, Instagram, X and/or Tik Tok, showcasing the work of the Office of Events and grow social media followers across multiple channels.

Hours for this position will vary and will be based upon the number of events on campus any given week. This role would be required to meet with the Office of Events marketing team to coordinate social media messaging, including tone and timing of social media content. A personal cell phone will be needed for posting to social media and discretion will be expected with the Office of Events social media login information.

Other duties may include photography with in-house equipment, photo editing and potentially putting together promotional videos using Adobe Premiere.

Responsibilities
Social Media Content:
  • Capture photos and videos of events sponsored by the Office of Events to post on various social media channels.
  • Work alongside the Office of Events marketing team to put together social media posts to promote the University Inn.
  • Edit photos and videos within the Adobe Creative Suite for use in future publications within the Office of Events and University Inn.
  • Maintain an organized filing system for captured photos and videos.
  • Monitor analytics to maximize the impact of social media posts.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Social media experience with working knowledge of Facebook, X, Instagram and Tik Tok.
  • Availability to work a non-traditional schedule, including some evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Personal mobile phone with social media apps installed.
  • Working knowledge of Windows or MAC operating systems.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two to three years of social media experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of photography and videography within social media programs.
  • Experience with social media analytics and best practices with social media content.
  • Previous experience of working with a team to accomplish department goals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • An ability to think creatively to create and grow a social media following across various social media channels.
  • Competency in social media apps such as Facebook, X, Instagram and Tik Tok.
  • Social media knowledge to keep up with current trends.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise discretion, and make administrative decisions.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including correct grammar, spelling and proofreading.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and effectively resolve conflict as necessary.
  • Strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • The ability to stand for long periods of time and the occasional lifting of heavy equipment.
