Mustang Cat, the authorized Caterpillar dealer for Southeast Texas, is seeking a highly experienced Controller to lead our Accounting Department in Houston, Texas. As a financial leader within one of the region's most trusted heavy equipment dealerships, you will ensure the accuracy of our financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and drive operational efficiency across our organization.
What You'll Do as a Controller:
As Mustang Cat's Controller, your primary responsibility is to lead and develop a high-performing accounting team while overseeing all financial operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP standards
- Analyze financial data and generate performance reports for senior management
- Oversee all general ledger and account reconciliations
- Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure financial accuracy and compliance
- Identify and lead process improvement initiatives within accounting workflows
- Develop and enforce consistent accounting policies and procedures
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and performance benchmarks across the organization
- Partner with external auditors and internal stakeholders to ensure successful audits
- Maintain current knowledge of tax laws, financial regulations, and proposed legislation
- Support the CFO and executive team with strategic financial planning
- Provide dynamic, trust-based leadership to the Accounting Team

Controller Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA license required
- Minimum 10 years of professional accounting experience
- At least 5 years in a senior-level accounting management role
- Strong understanding of accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills
- Effective leadership, interpersonal, and communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Professionalism, adaptability, and problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations
