As a Contact Representative, you will provide over-the-phone technical assistance to individuals and businesses. You will apply the tax code while addressing a wide range of issues to assist taxpayers in understanding and meeting their tax responsibilities, so no prior tax experience is required. Duties:

The following are the duties of this position at the full working level.


  • Communicates with individual taxpayers, their representatives, professional stakeholders, and other government officials.
  • Uses sophisticated interviewing techniques, to review individual circumstances and goals, and advises on the most advantageous ways to meet them.
  • Explains what future actions are necessary for compliance by advising on tax liability.



Requirements:

Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.

Qualifications:

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:


  1. You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

    1. experience that may have been gained in work with records, documents or financial accounts which involved applying established rules and procedures, or
    2. experience gained through work in positions that involved frequent contact with the public researching and responding to non-routine requests for information orally or in writing, OR


  2. Bachelor's Degree, OR
  3. You may qualify by a combination of experience and education.


No tax experience is required.

Comprehensive paid training is provided.

  • Tour of Duty: The Jacksonville FL location is offering Mid Shift Tours of Duty with a start time of 12:00 PM.
  • Post of Duty: Training may be conducted in a designated location other than the assigned POD located in the job offer until training is complete.
  • Alternative work schedule, staggered work hours or telework may be available.
  • Season is from 6 to 8 months. Employees who work a seasonal work schedule are placed in non-pay status or recalled to duty as workload or budget dictates and in accordance with their seasonal employment agreement.
