Basic Function: Load plastic material into industrial dryers, test and deliver dried material to jacketing machines when required. Put together completed order components and transport to the next manufacturing operation.

Significant Responsibilities:

Performs specific job responsibilities:

  1. Coordinates with planning team to ensure all dried materials needed for the manufacturing team are met. Dries, tests and moves materials in steel drums or bags to extruder lines as needed to ensure all production needs are fulfilled.
  2. Clean material dryers based on a schedule or when the materials within the dryer are changed.
  3. Assembles completed jobs from OTDR 1 & 2 in process testing stations, verifies all paperwork and promptly delivers to the next operation.
  4. Accurately and timely perform cycle counts of inventory to ensure accuracy of perpetual inventory system.
  5. Utilizes and follows quality policy and operating procedures to insure the quality and consistency of the job being performed.
  6. Intra-Departmental cross-training as required

Performs specific Fiber Inventory responsibilities:

  1. Receives fiber inventory from vendors, scans and applies internal ID numbers onto appropriate identification cards. Unpack fibers and prepare them for entry into the fiber storage area.
  2. Stores, consolidates, pulls fibers for allocation to purchase orders and stock orders, and delivers fiber to the associated buffer line for buffer manufacturing.
  3. Conducts all documentation as it relates to removing and adding fiber inventory, linking fibers to ERP jobs, fiber inventory accuracy, and all documentation required for the job function.

Job Scope:

  • Maintain the dryers ensuring the proper plastic material is being used.
  • Checking for the correct components when kitting orders and moving to the next operation.
  • Responsible for tactical fiber inventory processes. Receiving, issuing, return to stock, and inventory level verification.
  • May be required to communicate with all departments (engineering, sales, quality, manufacturing, and operations) to ensure accuracy of work orders and the information contained therein.
  • Treats all OCC work orders and the data contained therein as confidential and proprietary to OCC.
  • Financial Responsibility/Judgement - recognize the impact of cost to the company for scrap created as a result of incorrect work orders or for production down time due to inaccurate or untimely work orders.
  • Accountable for compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Travel - minimal.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education & Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Other Minimum Qualifications: Possess good organizational skills with the ability to properly prioritize tasks.

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:

  • Proficient computer skills required, including experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills required, with the ability to speak clearly on the phone and be polite and helpful to others.
  • Ability to read and follow complex instructions.
  • Ability to understand and implement quality procedures.
  • Math and handwriting skills required sufficient to meet work requirements.
  • Ability to correctly complete all documentation.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.

Working Conditions: While performing the job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and must be able to move up to 300 pounds with the assistance of tools such as a dolly. This job requires sight sufficient for significant reading and computer use. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision. This work also requires an individual with hearing sufficient for detection of alarms and communication with coworkers. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles - appropriate individual safety devices are provided for proper handling. The regular schedule for this position is 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday with some schedule flexibility required; overtime is also available.
