Job Description

What is the Opportunity?

The Head of US IT Risk Management Transformation is a First Line of Defense critical role accountable for all transformation initiatives related to the IT Risk Management practices across the US. This role will report to the head of IT Risk at RBC US. This leadership role will drive the delivery of the US IT Risk Roadmap and Target Operating Model across all US Business Lines / Legal Entities.

What will you do?

Build and manage a team of IT Risk project managers and SME responsible for delivering all US IT Risk Transformation initiatives in close partnership with Enterprise IT Risk. Key areas of focus will include:

Governance

  • Steer and revise annually the 3-year US IT Risk transformation roadmap.

  • Report progress, risk and issues to Senior Management on a regular basis.

  • Contribute to Enterprise IT Risk roadmap definition to include US requirements.

Target Operating Model (TOM)

  • Analyze the current state of the US IT Risk organizations at business unit / legal entity.

  • Design the target state for the US IT Risk Organization and the transition plan.

  • Present the TOM to Senior Management for validation.

  • Deliver the Target Operating Model in alignment with the US IT Risk roadmap.

Transformation Initiative Identification & Assessment

  • Identify new initiatives based (e.g. self-identified, new requirements)

  • Assess action plan, resource plan and budget.

  • Prioritize / arbitrate initiatives against the 3-year US IT Risk transformation roadmap.

  • Present initiatives to Senior Management for validation.

Transformation Delivery

  • Drive the delivery of each initiative leveraging RBC project management standard.

  • Prepare clear, concise reporting transformation roadmap, and escalations as needed.

  • Produce and present transformation status for senior management forums.

What you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in IT Risk, preferably in large financial services firms.

  • Strong leadership skills.

  • Proven track record of program / project delivery.

  • Strategic mindset, with excellent knowledge and understanding of complex IT risk transformation programs.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to summarize for senior audiences.

  • Hands-on experience with great attention to detail.

  • Solid understanding of US IT regulatory requirements is a plus (e.g., OCC Heightened Standards, FFIEC Handbooks, NIST)

Nice to have:

  • A strong understanding of financial services industry and experience with Compliance and Industry framework such as ISO27001, NIST 800-53, NIST CSF, NIST 800-171, COBIT etc.

  • Knowledge of regulatory bodies and frameworks i.e. OSFI, FINRA, SEC, MSRB, FRBNY, OCC.

  • Strong knowledge of rules, regulations and compliance requirements for the financial services industry concerning hybrid cloud and multiple technology domains specific to the areas of oversight.

The expected salary range for this particular position is $200,000-$325,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
