Job Summary: The Technician II - Structured Cabling must be able to perform the technical responsibilities of a Cable Installer and function as a lead member of a technical team. The Technician II - Structured Cabling will coordinate small groups of installers in the performance of daily workload including adherence to Company safety and quality standards. Job Duties and Responsibilities: The Technician II - Structured Cabling will install a work area outlet for floor or wall (terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks. Mount face plates and surface mount boxes correctly. Adhere to IES COMMERCIAL labeling standards). The Technician II - Structured Cabling will build closets (Mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware). Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required. Complete all IDC connections (e.g. terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels). The Technician II - Structured Cabling performs testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable; use of volt-ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts, and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable. The Technician II - Structured Cabling will identify active voice or data circuits. The Technician II - Structured Cabling will assume responsibility for effective performance of crew and provide necessary training, coordinate personnel and timeline to complete project. The Technician II - Structured Cabling will fully complete all IES Communications paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required). The Technician II - Structured Cabling will adhere to and participate in all Company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations. The Technician II - Structured Cabling will complete other responsibilities as assigned. Min USD $20.00/Hr. Max USD $30.00/Hr. Qualifications Physical and Mental Requirements: The Technician II - Structured Cabling must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and help create, develop, and implement project process improvement(s). The Technician II - Structured Cabling must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners. The Technician II - Structured Cabling must be able to act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s). The Technician II - Structured Cabling must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read and write. The Technician II - Structured Cabling must be able to work at heights, on a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds. Ability to endure long periods of standing, walking, or working in inclement weather and possession of sufficient physical strength and agility to lift and move heavy objects. The Technician II - Structured Cabling must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones. The Technician II - Structured Cabling must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed. Regular attendance is mandatory. Must have adequate transportation to get to the jobsite. Tools: Screwdriver (regular and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, flashlight and gloves. Trade Tools: Punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, 6/8 position combo crimp tool. Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent. Must have a minimum of three (3) years training experience or related role. Must have a minimum of five (5) years project management experience in telecommunications, electrical or a related technical or construction field. Prefer BICSI trainer certification. Must have demonstrated knowledge of job costing, job planning, quality management, safety training and contract administration. Must have working knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and their applications. Skilled in numerical and statistical analysis. Must be able to organize and plan your work and work of others. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project). Must meet Company minimum driving standards. Working knowledge of instructional design and adult learning theory practice preferred Must be able to lead and work as part of a team. Ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job. Possess good knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and their application. Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications Working knowledge of construction process (bid process, project management, delegation, financial etc. Must have BICSI Technician certification Prefer BICSI trainer certification.
