Position Description:

The Cost Accountant is responsible for performing all functions of the standard cost system and provides analysis of item costing and inventory transactions. The position will also support billing activities, accounts receivable and accounts payable.


**This is an approximate 8 week contract position.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Review and reconcile the perpetual inventory to the general ledger on a monthly basis.

Analyze the profit margin on all manufactured and purchased parts on a monthly basis.

Calculate standard overhead and labor rates on an annual basis.

Perform all cost roll activities as required.

Assist the Plant Controller with annual budget preparation.

Support annual physical inventory. Monitor all cycle counting / scrap activities.

Responsible for cost related journal entries, reconciliations, reserves, etc.

Responsible for CIP related journal entries and reconciliations.

Responsible for hourly / salary payroll journal entries and reconciliations.

Prepare reports and statistics reflecting account balances for accruals, year-end audit records and reconciliation worksheets, labor reports, and other reports / KPI's.

Support successful launch of all new programs with proper quoting support.

Participate in Lean Manufacturing events and other cost reduction support.

Participate in safety walks or other plant functions.

Educate plant management personnel in the use of cost data for effective decision making.

Assist with all audits, SOX reviews and compliance issues.

Support the Shiloh Production System.

Assist with weekly scrap review meetings.

Other duties as assigned by Plant Controller or Management Team.

Qualifications:


Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; prefer 3 to 5 years of financial experience in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a manufacturing environment.


Skills and Abilities

Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing at all levels of the organization

Excellent organizational skills.

Strong understanding of general accounting principles.

Ability to analyze data and strong mathematical ability

Ability to establish priorities and multi-task

Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong working knowledge of spreadsheet applications, ie pivot tables and charts.

Strong manufacturing background in quantitative analyses and ability to solve complex problems.


Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

CPA or CMA Preferred
