Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant to manage the payroll and accounts payable functions, under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer. This position will be primarily responsible for reviewing and processing payroll and Accounts Payable. Assists the CFO with monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, account analysis, and monthly closing entries. Prepares daily and weekly FTE reports, assists with annual budget preparation, and assists with internal and external audits.The following description covers the most significant duties performed, but do not exclude other work assignments not mentioned.

  • Handles routine inquiries, informational needs and miscellaneous requests from hospital departments.
  • Prepares and inputs monthly ledger journal entries and statistics and ensures that monthly closings are consistent and accurate.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and biweekly FTE reports per the facility and Corporate deadlines.
  • Process biweekly payroll as well as special payroll checks on "off payroll" weeks. Print time reports and distribute to departments. Balance hours and deductions in preparation for payroll processing. Prints special checks.
  • Prints and verifies benefit hours available reports and distributes to departments at biweekly.
  • Completes overtime reports weekly.
  • Completes approaching overtime report daily.
  • Processes Accounts Payable invoices and payments timely.
  • Prepares the financial portions of periodic surveys and questionnaires.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Utilizes Kronos, Lawson, Midas, and McKesson computer software as required, for accessing statistical information and/or inputting the financial information as well as processing payroll and accounts payable.
  • Ensures that all financial policies are followed by the facility's employees.
  • Consistently demonstrates competence in day-to-day scheduling of duties by completing tasks on time with little assistance from others as required
  • Observes hospital policies concerning smoking regulations, telephone usage, and dress code as well as other rules governing conduct at work.
  • Always exhibits a positive attitude when dealing with others in day-to-day work situations.
  • Recognizes and performs duties which need to be performed although not directly assigned; regularly helps co-workers.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree is required, knowledge of AS400, Kronos Systems, Lawson, and McKesson are a plus.

    • Must have strong knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing and spreadsheets (MS Word, Excel)
