Position Purpose |
The Onboarding & Engagement Programs Specialist enhances the employee experience from pre-arrival through continued development by coordinating comprehensive onboarding, professional learning, and engagement initiatives. This role fosters employee connection, supports retention, and contributes to a positive workplace culture across the School of Arts & Sciences. The Specialist will also serve as a collaborative partner and designated backup for Talent Acquisition processes, supporting recruitment workflows and providing continuity in staffing operations as needed. |

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of experience in onboarding, employee engagement, training, or related HR roles.
- Experience designing and delivering training content in diverse formats.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create effective messaging and materials.
- Proficiency with HR systems, applicant tracking systems (preferred familiarity with DORR), and learning management platforms.
- Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and adapt to changing priorities.

Description |
Onboarding & Orientation
- Design, coordinate, and facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, including orientation sessions, departmental integration plans, and communications.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for new employees during onboarding, ensuring consistency, clarity, and connection.
- Develop and maintain onboarding materials, digital resources, checklists, and tracking tools.
- Collaborate with Central HR, hiring managers, and department administrators to align onboarding efforts across units.
- Monitor onboarding program effectiveness through surveys and feedback mechanisms; identify and implement enhancements.

Professional Development & Learning Coordination
- Develop and deliver training workshops and professional learning programs to support employee growth and skill development.
- Maintain a calendar of internal development opportunities, including LinkedIn Learning pathways and custom training initiatives.
- Partner with Learning & Development, the Wellness Center, and other institutional stakeholders to support holistic professional growth.
- Coordinate leadership development and learning programs tied to career advancement and succession planning.
- Manage participation records and maintain compliance with mandatory training and certification tracking.

Employee Engagement & Communication
- Lead and manage engagement efforts including HR newsletters, communications campaigns, and recognition initiatives.
- Support cross-divisional community-building activities and promote inclusion, belonging, and employee voice.
- Design and disseminate communications related to training opportunities, onboarding updates, and employee resources.
- Serve as a liaison with campus partners on engagement initiatives.

Description |
Talent Acquisition Collaboration & Backup Support
- Partner closely with the Talent & Employee Relations Manager to understand recruitment operations and maintain continuity during absences or periods of high volume.
- Support recruitment-related tasks such as posting positions in the DORR system, scheduling interviews, drafting candidate communication, and managing documentation.
- Maintain familiarity with position management workflows, hiring protocols, and compliance requirements.
- Assist with applicant tracking and contribute to a positive candidate experience when engaged in the hiring process.
- Participate in training and process reviews to remain up to date on recruitment systems and procedures.
