Overview

Bronx/Westchester Electric is seeking a qualified candidate to join their team as a Clerical Assistant. Selected candidate will provide clerical and administrative support to Bronx/Westchester Electric Operations.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Success in this role requires a candidate with strong work ethics, confidence, passion, and adaptability.
  • This candidate should have excellent clerical and organizational abilities, along with proficient computer and typing skills.
  • Candidate should demonstrate outstanding proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • This individual should be capable of prioritizing daily tasks and adapting to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Responsibilities will include, but not limited to, communicating with and dispatching field crews, reviewing and filing documents, compiling various tracking system reports, preparing daily work folders for field crews, assisting field personnel with necessary permits and contact information, creating and receipting Oracle requisitions, and performing office duties related to electric operations.
  • The chosen candidate must be willing to work overtime and occasionally on weekends or overnight shifts as needed for storm response.
  • This position is currently hybrid, requiring three days in office and two days remote with the on-site requirement subject to change based on business needs; standard shift hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:00am to 3:30pm.
  • Candidate must be available to report in-person during ICS (Incident Command System) events and travel to company locations as necessary to support restoration efforts on morning/night shift. This requirement ensures operational effectiveness and continuity, particularly in response to critical events where in-person coordination is necessary.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Associate's Degree
Relevant Work Experience
  • Must possess excellent clerical and organization skills, including computer skills and competency in the Windows file-management platform and Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word). Required
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are required for frequent interaction with Manager, Planners, Supervisors, and Field Crews. Required
  • Candidate must be able to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities. Required
  • Working experience with Web Workspace (NMS). Preferred
  • Previous experience in the utility industry. Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
Physical Demands
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Sit or stand to answer a phone for the duration of the workday
  • Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday
  • Possess manual dexterity and the ability to use hands for the duration of the workday
  • Ability to stoop, bend, reach, and kneel throughout the workday
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
