Job Summary:
Directs the activities of and works with a crew to perform quality construction and maintenance and other related functions to support service operations and gas distribution. Develops and conducts training, provides technical assistance in the field, and promotes safety programs.
Essential Functions:
- Responds to and assists Utility Technicians on emergency situations to assure the safe delivery of natural gas and to maintain public and personal safety.
- Provides work prioritization, work direction, feedback and training for Field Support shop employees to ensure safe, cost-effective results that meet customer specifications.
- Advises customer regarding interruptions of gas services for construction or repair to provide good customer communication and good will.
- Directs the activities of employees in other classifications and works in the field to ensure correct procedures are followed, scheduled work is accomplished safely, and a full complement is maintained by filling in when necessary. In the absence of the supervisor, maintains continuity and productivity of the work group.
- Develops innovative and creative solutions to support supervisor in problem solving situations.
- Tests, adjusts and refurbishes meters to ensure accurate gas measurement.
- Performs materials fabrication for meter sets, post loop and distribution regulation to meet construction customer demands.
- Tests, repairs, overhauls, adjusts and refurbishes regulators, relief valves, controls and security valves to ensure accurate and safe gas control.
- Originates, verifies and completes material fabrication, testing and shipping documentation requirements in a timely manner to maintain inventory control, customer requirements and system integrity.
- Operates and maintains company vehicle in a safe manner, controls parts inventory and is responsible for tool and equipment condition to ensure safe efficient service.
Basic Qualifications:
Education:
- Requires a high school education or equivalent knowledge of English, basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and calculations of fractions and/or percentages), grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Experience:
- Requires minimum of five (5) years' experience in Meter & Regulation and/or Special C&M Foreperson and/or minimum of eight (8) years' primary emergency response experience.

Compensation Rate: 53.30 Hourly
CenterPoint Energy is required by Minnesota law to provide a good faith estimate of the starting fixed pay rate at the time of posting for the opportunity. This hourly compensation is specific to Minnesota and the pay rate negotiated in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
