Overview

Summary We are seeking a strategic and experienced Sustainability Lead to join our team, focusing on the unique challenges and opportunities within the utility and energy domain. The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and implement a comprehensive Enterprise and Sustainability Strategic Plan, as well as a focused Equity Strategies Action Plan. This individual will be a key leader in driving our commitment to a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient future.



Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

    Enterprise and Sustainability Strategic Plan:
    • Lead the development and execution of an enterprise-wide sustainability strategy that aligns with our business objectives, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder expectations.
    • Identify key sustainability risks and opportunities, including climate change, resource management, and social impact.
    • Establish clear, measurable goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress against the strategic plan.
    • Collaborate with various departments-including Operations, Engineering, and Finance-to embed sustainability principles into all aspects of our business.
  • Equity Strategies Action Plan:
    • Develop and implement an action plan focused on sustainability-related equity, ensuring that our clean energy transition is fair and inclusive for all communities.
    • Identify and address potential disparities in the impacts and benefits of our projects on vulnerable populations and underserved communities.
    • Work with community leaders and stakeholders to co-create solutions that promote equitable access to clean energy technologies, jobs, and investment opportunities.
  • Reporting and Compliance:
    • Manage the collection, analysis, and reporting of sustainability data, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB).
    • Communicate our sustainability progress and achievements to internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, investors, and the public.
    • Stay abreast of emerging sustainability trends, regulations, and best practices in the utility and energy sector to inform our strategic direction.


Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related field. An advanced degree is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 4-7+ years of experience in a sustainability-focused role, with significant experience in the utility or energy sector.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing complex strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Expertise in sustainability reporting frameworks and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong understanding of social equity principles and experience working with diverse communities.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with a major public utility.
  • Professional certifications in sustainability (e.g., ISSP-SA, ISSP-CSP).
  • Experience in policy advocacy and navigating complex regulatory environments.

Wage Data Per State Requirements

Salary range for this position is $110,000 - $165,000 yearly. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
