Who we are and what we do: The mission of the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) is to operate safe and secure facilities and provide effective Community Supervision in support of successful reentry. The department manages and operates or oversees 14 state prisons housing approximately 20,000 offenders. In addition, the department supervises approximately 75,000 offenders on probation, parole, or community correction and operates eight Day Reporting/Community Resource Centers across the state. The department is fully accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA). How you make a difference in this role: The Director of Community Supervision Evidence-Based Initiatives is assigned to Central Office and will oversee the development of new pilot programs, initiatives, and special projects based upon research and best practices in the field of Community Supervision. Additionally, this position will ensure Community Supervision policies and practices evolve to promote safety, rehabilitation, and efficiency for Community Supervision staff and offenders. Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to five years of full-time professional-level work in one or more of the following: probation/parole, counseling, social work, criminal investigations, or law, of which three years must be at a lead or supervisory level in probation/parole work. Substitution of Education for Experience: Graduate coursework credit received from an accredited college or university in social science, behavioral science, criminal justice, criminology, social work, and/or law may substitute for the required experience to a maximum of two years (e.g., 36 graduate quarter hours in one or a combination of the above-listed fields may substitute for one year of the required experience), or a combination of the above-listed fields may substitute for one year of the required experience.
