About the Job

The Department of Radiation Oncology, within the Medical School, is seeking to fill a Graduate Research Assistant (RA) position. The RA performs research related to radiation therapy or imaging under the supervision of a Medical Physics Graduate Program faculty. The Medical Physics Graduate Program Director will assign the RA to faculty depending on the available projects and the candidate's skills. The duties include: collecting background information and literature search, data collection and analysis, and producing a report which may be submitted to a regional or national scientific or professional meeting. The RA may be expected to perform programming (in the code they are proficient in) and perform statistical analysis.

The position is expected to work primarily on-site. Your work location will be in the Department of Radiation Oncology suite, located in the Phillips-Wangensteen Building, 1st floor.

Responsibilities:
* Perform literature search in available databases
* Collect relevant background information and creating a document summarizing it
* Collect data per supervisor's instructions (if clinical data, required training must be completed)
* Analyze data and create a document summarizing the findings
* Perform coding/programming as needed
* Compile information in the form of the submission to a scientific or professional meeting
* Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
Required Qualifications:
* BA/BS degree in physics OR a BS/BA in a STEM-related field with a minor in physics
* Enrolled at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and working towards completing a graduate degree in a STEM-related field
* Prior research experience
* Prior data collection experience
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Strong organizational skills
* Ability to multitask
* Attention to detail
* Ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in programming (open to any code the candidate is proficient in)

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $27.00/hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience
