Environmental Specialist

Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking an Environmental Specialist for our Lab & Onsite Support Services (Lab/OSS) team. As an Environmental Specialist, you will support our clients on-site by managing their hazardous waste programs & projects, utilizing state & federal regulations.

This position reports to the Operations Manager. This role is based on a site at a client site in Wilton, CT.

Responsibilities

Client & Team Engagement



  • Deliver WOW-level customer service to the clients by offering innovative solutions and reliable support.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.


Waste Management & Logistics



  • Prepare, document, and manage the shipment and disposal of chemical and biological waste.
  • Handle hazardous waste containers with care-loading, unloading, and transporting safely.


Regulatory & Safety Compliance



  • Master OSHA and Triumvirate safety standards to ensure safe operations.
  • Cultivate in-depth knowledge of state and federal regulations (e.g., RCRA, DOT, OSHA) to guarantee client compliance.


Inspections & Audits:



  • Conduct routine safety and waste equipment inspections.
  • Occasionally execute Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) audits and document findings.


Emergency & Spill Response



  • Respond to spills-assess, clean up, and document effectively.
  • Serve on the Emergency Response Team with rotating on-call duties (optional).


Education & Background



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the Environmental Sciences, hazardous-waste sector-or relevant military experience.


Skills & Abilities:



  • Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication abilities to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders, ensuring clear and professional exchanges of information
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, develop solutions, and implement strategies to achieve positive outcomes
  • Analytical thinker with a track record of problem-solving and delivering results.
  • Able to collaborate well as both a team player and an independent contributor.
  • Physically able and safety-conscious-note: the role involves PPE use and is safety-sensitive.


Must Haves & Flexibility:



  • Must be willing to work flexible hours within the work week (Monday through Friday)
  • Ability to work overtime on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to report to Wilton office within 1 hour during Emergency Response rotating shifts
  • Ready to complete a 2-3-year professional advancement program in hazardous waste management.
  • Valid US driver's license. Must have a reliable form of transportation.
  • Must be willing to consent to Motor Vehicle Record screening, criminal background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen (inclusive of THC).
  • Upon employment, you will be required to participate in a random drug screening program (inclusive of THC) as part of our company's commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship.
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis.


Preferred Requirements:



  • Prior relevant industry experience
  • Prior successful experience in a customer service role
  • Active HAZWOPER 24- or 40-hour certification
  • Willingness to obtain Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
