The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) to provide research support administration services for our government customer in Dayton, OH at WPAFB. DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and policies. Test and calibrate components using manufacturers' manuals and troubleshooting techniques, hand tools, power tools and measuring devices. Keep records of maintenance, repair, and required updates of equipment. Assesses and evaluates the condition of in-use medical equipment for maintenance, upgrade, or replace recommendations. Inspect and test malfunctioning medical and related equipment following manufacturers' specifications, using test and analysis instruments. Disassemble malfunctioning equipment and remove, repair, and replace defective parts such as motors, transformers, and circuit boards. Perform preventive maintenance or service such as cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting medical and simulation equipment in accordance with OEM specifications. Test, evaluate, and classify excess or in-use medical and simulation equipment and determine serviceability, condition, and disposition in accordance with regulations. Effectively support and operate medical and simulation equipment. Study technical manuals and attend training sessions provided by equipment manufacturers to maintain current knowledge. Provide training to medical staff by explaining and demonstrating correct operation and operator preventive maintenance of medical equipment. Wear personal protected equipment as required. Occasionally work includes live electrical wires, switches, and transformers of various voltage levels, exposing the worker to the possibility of shock, cuts, bruises, scrapes and serious burns. The contractor shall use appropriate safety procedures and devices as required by the Government. Work is a combination of sedentary duties as well as light to moderate physical effort. Requirements include walking, standing, reaching, bending, and moving items. Work periodically on hard surfaces. Work is performed indoors/outdoors and in an environment involving everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions. The area is adequately illuminated, heated, and ventilated
REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience with statistics in a healthcare or military environment. Knowledge and understanding of applicable Air Force and professional standards. Knowledge of military and civilian guidelines that govern policy and procedure. Knowledge of and skills in applying a wide range of specialized methods, principles, and techniques of electronics and complex medical system failures, recovery of systems, adjusting, modifying, and improving systems to include hardware and software components. Knowledge of a wide range of electronic principles and practices, operating parameters, capabilities, and limitations of electronic systems associated with complex medical systems/equipment; and of systems and component design, capabilities, configurations, limitations, and functional operation; and of various types of electronic logic. Knowledge of DoD, The Joint Commission, AAAHC, CAP, OSHA, NFPA, NEC, FDA and other regulations, procedures, and practices as it applies to biomedical equipment. Skill in the interpretation of technical data such as drawings, schematics, blueprints, and specifications of complete electronic systems; in analyzing problems in integrated/interfacing systems involving numerous complex circuits; and in using complex electronic and electromechanical test and measuring equipment using integrated test functions for different purposes. Ability to solve technical and performance problems for highly complex electronic systems. Ability to trace electronics logic from one system to another. Ability to use standard computers and software to enter and extract data to maintain records and document actions. In addition to health requirements in the contract, the individual must pass color vision test. Health requirement expenses will not be covered by the Government. Lift, carry or otherwise handle items weighing up to 51 pounds with occasional encounters involving items greater than 51 pounds in accordance with NIOSH guidance. A valid driver's license is required for the position to obtain authorization to drive a government motor vehicle to service medical equipment that may be in other buildings. Must be willing and able to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) at start of performance.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
One year of military medical/military deployment experience. Experience with military protocols and administrative actions like decorations, evaluations, and reports. Experience with the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS).
REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:
Must be U.S. Citizen. (For the purpose of base and network access, possession of a permanent resident card ("Green Card") does not equate to U.S. citizenship.) Must pass at minimum of a Tier 1 background check (T1)/SF85 for a Position of Trust.
