POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Finance, the Director of Accounting/Controller is responsible for managing ASQ's Accounting and Financial Reporting function. The position is responsible for ensuring accurate accounting data and information and compliance with U.S. accounting and tax reporting requirements.

SCOPE



  • This position is responsible for between 2-3 direct reports and 4-6 indirect reports.





  • Responsible for management of the Financial Accounting and Reporting and Accounting Operations functions within the Financial Management workgroup.





  • Manage enterprise-wide accounting policies and controls and oversee multi-entity accounting and consolidation processes.





  • Responsible for all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.





  • Main point of contact for accounting/general ledger integration functionality with ASQ's ERP system.





  • Supports annual audit, tax, and other compliance processes.



RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Hire and develop qualified staff to effectively conduct department functions, provide excellent customer service, and provide for the continuity of managerial and specialized skills.





  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs to ensure compliance with US GAAP.





  • Lead the activities of the Accounting and Financial Reporting workgroup to accurate financial statements and financial reporting.





  • Support the Senior Director of Finance in providing oversight of accounting and financial operations for the ASQ family of companies, including international operations and ASQ's member units.





  • Research, interpret and implement new accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS)





  • Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets and ensure compliance with US GAAP and company policies.





  • Ensure the timely review of all month-end and year-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliation, and corporate/overhead cost allocation.





  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors and external tax consultants, including the preparation of all supporting schedules and documentation.





  • Support the Senior Director of Finance in engaging the board's audit committee in relation to the annual financial audit and tax processes.





  • Manage for all Treasury activities including Bank Covenant Compliance. Support the Senior Director of Finance with cash flow forecasting and liquidity management.





  • Responsible for the oversight and review of multi-organization payroll processing.





  • Collaborate with FP&A for cross-functional planning.





  • Identify efficiencies and implement improvements in the company's accounting and financial reporting function.





  • Leverage strengths of the current accounting team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs





  • Manage ASQ's sales tax and annual reporting/business license filing process. Ensure compliance with state and local filing requirements.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; a minimum of three years of people management experience; 10 years of experience in accounting or a related field; or equivalent combination.

Must be able to comply with attendance and timeliness policies.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Hybrid Office Environment with 2+ days in office at the Milwaukee Headquarters location.
