The System Reliability Engineer (SRE) improves and protects the software and systems behind all of T-Mobile's IT services-ensuring scalability, availability, latency, performance, security, and capacity-while enabling faster, more efficient software delivery. Job Responsibilities:
- Utilize proficient knowledge and skill in emerging DevOps-centric automation tools and technologies for CI/CD, configuration management, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) across non-production and production environments.
- Build and maintain automated solutions for deployment, monitoring, scaling, and self-healing in Kubernetes or similar containerized environments.
- Perform environment management and automated server provisioning (e.g., VMs or containers), including configuration and optimization of CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab or Jenkins.
- Deliver software and infrastructure automation to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of T-Mobile's services.
- Create, manage, and use dashboards for continuous monitoring and health checks of applications and underlying infrastructure using tools such as Grafana, Splunk, AppDynamics, and Power BI.
- Collaborate with development and platform engineering teams to enforce best practices in operational excellence, including incident response, root cause analysis (RCA), and preventive automation.
- Contribute to future improvements in software delivery and operations through cloud enablement, use of microservices with containerization, and agent-based automation techniques.
- Participate in on-call rotations as needed to support critical platforms, ensuring rapid and effective response to production issues.
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 2-4+ years relevant experience in SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering roles.
- Hands-on experience in developing agent-based automation solutions to proactively detect and resolve production application issues
- Experience in one or more of: Python, Bash, PowerShell or Go.
- Proficient in GitLab CI/CD, including pipelines, runners, and APIs.
- Experience with DevOps tools, such as, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring/logging systems: Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or OpenSearch.
- Deep understanding of Docker and microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with incident management, SLOs, and error budgets.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing custom Kubernetes controllers or operators.
- Experience working in an Agile and DevOps environment.
- Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure or LLM-based systems (e.g., OpenAI, ChatGPT, Azure OpenAI).
- Working knowledge of Terraform, Pulumi, or Crossplane.
- Familiarity with event-driven architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Pub/Sub).
- Experience in security automation using GitLab (SAST, DAST, Secret Scanning).
- Knowledge of OpenTelemetry for advanced observability practices.
- Exposure to chaos engineering and resilience testing.

Base Pay Range: $83,900 - $151,200
Corporate Bonus Target: 15%
The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.
At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year.
