TITLE: Shipping Loader



POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Shipper Loader is responsible for basic shipping functions including: wrapping and strapping skids, loading trucks, moving inventory and dollies, etc. Job also requires data entry.



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Prior experience loading trucks for shipment
  • Prior experience receiving goods
  • Focus on safety
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Mathematical aptitude - ability to read a tape measure
  • Basic knowledge of computers
  • Able to drive a forklift
  • Must have valid driver license
  • Must be able to drive manual vehicle
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.


  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Be familiar with and able to interpret packing slip.
  • Ability to enter receipts into the Company computer system in an accurate & timely manner.
  • Acknowledge the receipt of goods into the purchase order and processing database.
  • Must be able to fill out bills of lading, domestic & international, and be familiar with various forms that are used and required by freight carriers.
  • Must be familiar with proper packaging methods and able to interpret visual aids used to convey specific packaging requirements.
  • Must be familiar with the most common material handling equipment and be a licensed forklift truck operator (standard truck, reach-in truck and pallet jack).
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate with all employees within Plattsburgh & Chateauguay facilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain order in stressful and demanding situations.
  • Compliance with warehouse and inventory process, policies and procedures.
  • Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office package and other carrier databases (FEDEX, common carriers).
  • Good working knowledge of the domestic & international shipping process.
  • Solid & safety-based operational skills with standard and reach-in forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.



WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:



  • Exposed to extreme heat and/or cold due to weather conditions.
  • Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes, solvents, oils, gas.
  • Required to lift in excess of 50 pounds on a regular basis; material handling equipment provided.
  • Required to hear and see warning alarms.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time.
