The Assistant Credit Manager is responsible for partnering the Credit Manager of Member Business Services for oversight of the quality and productivity of the commercial loan portfolio. Individual contributor responsibilities include managing the annual review process (Level 1, 2, 3 and ACH), maintaining updated training guides and templates, training of new staff, borrowing base calculations, monitoring and calculating financial indicator covenants, construction draw request review and approval, portfolio concentration reporting, analyzing cash flow, interpreting collateral evaluation, and preparing various portfolio reports. This position has loan approval authority as well as collateral release and payoff approval authority. Contributes to the success of the credit union by providing prompt, efficient, accurate and friendly service to members, business partners and internal team members.

Leadership
* Ensures all annual reviews are completed accurately and timely so the level of risk associated with the commercial loan portfolio is accurately captured.
* Ensures all construction draw request are adequately supported and documented prior to funding.
* Ensures the training program provided to credit analyst is well developed and fosters consistency with swift results.
* Validates exposure by monitoring borrowing base calculation.
* Mitigates risk by overseeing the financial indicator covenants.
* Prepares and/or analyzes relevant special reports for distribution to Credit Manager and the MBS credit department staff.
* Works within an approved budget; develops and implements cost saving measures and conserves organizational resources.
* Participate in department projects and take an active part in cross-functional teams to drive quality improvements in process and initiatives.
* Assists the Credit Manager in developing and implementing long and short term goals, strategies, and best practices for department.


Commercial Credit Analysis
* Conducts credit investigations and analyzes credit information pertaining to loan opportunities
* Manages and monitors credit risk in the MBS portfolio which includes but may not be limited to maintaining accurate risk ratings in the portfolio, monitoring concentrations through monthly NAICS code reports, monitoring policy exceptions, and evaluation of total exposure to a single member.
* Provides support to Business Services Lenders in collection of borrower financial information, financial spread preparation, researching industry data, preparing independent thorough written analyses with focus on the borrower's historical and projected ability to service existing and requested new debt and key credit risks
* Underwrites and structures small business, consumer real estate, commercial owner and non-owner occupied real estate, construction, equipment, and vehicle loans. Monitors and disburses loan proceeds on construction loans
* Assists in preparing information necessary for the monthly NCUA Call report, pipelines and closing, exception tracking, and appraisal logs
* Perform job duties in accordance with policies established by the Board of Directors under the rules and regulations set by the National Credit Union Administration, CFPB, RESPA/TILA, other Federal agencies and the State of Indiana and State laws of other States where FCCU conducts business
* Fully supports in actions and words Purdue Federal's Vision, Mission, Core Values and Service Standards
* Reviews third party reports such as appraisals, titles, and construction inspection reports.
* Performs annual financial reviews of new and existing credit relationships. Reviews are performed on a portfolio basis in accordance with the business loan policy. Reviews include financial statement monitoring, risk rating analysis, UCC security, exception tracking, covenant monitoring, payment performance, and site inspections
* Implements new and performs annual reviews of significant ACH and RDC relationships to ensure approval levels are appropriate and that the risk profile continues to be acceptable
* Identifies cross sell opportunities and makes referrals to other credit union departments
Required Skills
Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting

Experience

  • Five years Credit Analyst experience

Additional Requirements


  • Experience in interacting with members and prospects and leading discussions related to credit underwriting and ongoing credit maintenance
  • Experience in cash flow and borrowing base loan structures
  • Experience in construction lending
  • Ability to structure, negotiate and manage complex credit transactions Strong financial and analytic skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to complete assignments in a timely manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to coach and develop team members
  • Experience with nCino (LOS)/Saleforce, Microsoft Windows, and Nautilus preferred.
