Job Description
General Purpose of Job: To ensure the availability of food and related departmental supplies. Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

- Responsible for working with vendors, adhering to specifications, assisting in testing product, acquiring bids and price quotes, as well as ordering food, supplies, paper products, supplements and small utensils daily. Checking received product for damage, accuracy of pricing and receiving credits.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with suppliers, fostering collaboration and communication.
- Reports to and regularly communicates with executive chef regarding all aspects of food and product procurement. Acts a s key communicator with all department associates, managers and suppliers on a daily basis.
- Receives inventories, organizes and rotates all stock and non-stock food and supplies, reviewing product usage, inventory and order levels.
- Purchases product in a fiscally responsible manner ensuring proper quality. Works with vendors to correct discrepancies in pricing.
- Maintains appropriate inventory levels of all products used in the department with special care in procuring specified product for patient facing foodservice.
- Extensively researches market trends and forecasts product availability while staying abreast of up and coming concepts. Responds to recalls by notifying concerned parties and promptly pulls product for credit.
- Responsible for the maintenance, sanitation and orderliness of freezers, walk-ins and other food storage areas. This includes but is not limited to scheduling preventative maintenance with facilities management, monitoring temperature data, daily cleaning and general upkeep.
- Maintains hospital standards by participating in inservices, committees, continuing education programs, etc.
- Maintains well organized order guides with proper product and pricing.
- Incorporate technology where applicable to increase job competency/efficiency.
Job Requirements
Work Experience |
* Minimum 2 years experience in commercial foodservice purchasing, procurement and sourcing or equivalent. |
Education |
* High School diploma or G.E.D. * Current ServSafe Certification OR obtained within 90 days of hire or transfer * Preferred- Business courses in higher education. |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
* Demonstrated organizational ability. Verbal, oral, written and mathematical skills. * Order processing, Inventory and cost control management. * Demonstrated knowledge of volume food service production and supply acquisition. |
