This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite (3 days) at Greenwich Dr. and remote (2 days).

DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Director, Employee Relations, the Employee Relations Investigator is a mid-to-senior level position that has in-depth knowledge and understanding, as well as demonstrated experience in conducting workplace investigations and ensuring that investigation are conducted consistent with University policies and practices, state and federal law, and established best practices.

The Investigator will be responsible for coordinating and conducting varied and complex workplace investigations. In addition to performing fact finding and making determinations regarding alleged violations of University policy, the incumbent will make recommendations as to the appropriate level of corrective action necessary to address the violation. This position will also provide alternative dispute resolution services to help resolve moderate to complex interpersonal disputes between colleagues and management, and initiates strategies to mitigate risk.

This position will coordinate with partners across the campus to ensure that investigative effort is not duplicative and/or overlapping. Partners include the Office of Ethics and Compliance, OPHD, and Office of Student Conduct.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Seven years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three years of related experience/training.

  • Experience conducting complex investigations within a dedicated investigatory unit, a security department, a law enforcement agency, or Employee Relations Department within Human Resources.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in post-investigatory report writing.

  • Ability to extract, verify, compile and develop recommendations related to ethics and compliance programs, issues, policies and procedures.

  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills to work independently with all levels of University personnel, including management and faculty, and to facilitate agreement on issues and corrective actions. Demonstrated skills and abilities in conflict resolution.

  • Ability to present complex issues in a clear and concise manner, both in writing and verbally for presentation or review by senior leadership.

  • Proven skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices and/or procedures to define the problem or objective, identify relevant concerns, identify patterns and relationships, formulate logical and objective conclusions, and recommend alternatives and their implications.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with varying levels of personnel, including colleagues, managers, external regulatory agency officials, etc.

  • Strong organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously and set priorities.

  • Proficient with computer programs, including Microsoft Office products.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working in a healthcare and/or higher education setting.

  • Experience working for the University of California.

  • Experience using a case management system (e.g. ServiceNow).

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $79,200 - $143,400 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $37.93 - $68.68

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
