JOB TITLE: VP of Marketing & Guest Experience

DIVISION: Marketing

REPORTS TO: Resort President

LOCATION: Solitude Mountain Resort

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time/ Year-Round/ Salary

SALARY RANGE: $115k-$140k DOE. 30% Annual Incentive Bonus + Long Term Incentive

POSITION:

You'll lead marketing, branding, communications, and guest experience strategy across the resort-driving revenue, elevating brand presence, shaping guest satisfaction, and orchestrating public events.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic & Leadership
  • Develop and execute an integrated marketing and guest experience strategy aligned with resort business goals (passes, lift tickets, lodging, food & beverage, events, programming).
  • Role model Solitude values, behaviors and leadership expectations to build a high performing team.
  • Set clear expectations for department priorities, planning and budgeting in alignment with resort business goals.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with SLT, operations, finance, sales, partnerships, and guest services.


Marketing & Brand
  • Oversee marketing initiatives: website updates, CRM strategy, digital marketing, social media content, email, advertising.
  • Ensure cohesive brand presence across all channels-including signage, collateral, and visual standards.
  • Manage public relations, media relations, sponsorships, and external partnerships


Guest Experience & Event Programming
  • Design and oversee in-resort guest experiences and programming (festivals, activations, loyalty initiatives).
  • Partner with internal teams to align guest-facing communications with on-mountain operations.
  • Collect and analyze guest feedback and KPIs to optimize experiences and loyalty.


Communications
  • Lead internal and external communication strategy: newsletters, guest messaging before/during/after visits.
  • Develop crisis communications readiness and oversee reputation management.
  • Coordinate with PR firms as needed and serve as spokesperson when appropriate.


Data, CRM & Analytics
  • Manage CRM systems and data-driven marketing (email segmentation, guest lifecycle, loyalty insights).
  • Track campaign effectiveness-lift ticket sales, web conversions, social engagement, guest satisfaction metrics.


Sponsorships & Partnerships
  • Identify and secure resort sponsorships and strategic partnerships.
  • Promote brand collaborations and activations to deliver value for both resort and partners


SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum 10 years of senior-level marketing leadership experience, preferably within the hospitality, ski, travel or resort sector.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Deep understanding of ski culture and guest expectations; intermediate skiing/snowboarding ability required, expert level preferred.
  • Expertise in digital marketing, CRM architecture, content strategy, PR, brand management, signage/graphic production.
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Data-driven decision-making mindset - experienced in tracking metrics and optimizing campaigns.
  • Excellent communication and media relations experience; comfort as public-facing representative.

  • History of developing loyalty programs, driving retention, and growing guest spend through integrated campaigns.
  • Prior experience planning and executing on-mountain events and guest activations.
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to work in a fast-paced/matrixed environment.
  • A passion for mountain recreation and storytelling that resonates with ski guests.
