EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- 2 years' Experience in social work, or a related field, preferred. Other comparable experience considered.
- Experience working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and educational levels required.
- Customer service experience.

SCOPE OF POSITION:
Under the direction of the Site Operations Coordinator, the Residence Manager is responsible for the management of the men's program and program participants during their shift. As a team member promotes a climate for effective performance and learning by example of his attitudes, willingness to teach and learn, and availability to program participants and staff. The roles focus is maintaining program operations and good order among the program participants. All needs and support should be directed to the Site Operations Coordinator for support and approval to implement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of standardized but moderately complex procedures and operations requiring training and experience to be successful.
- Strong computer skills for internal digital systems. Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to function with limited direct oversight and/or with limited remote training
- Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner, prioritize multiple requests and demands
- High level of problem-solving skills to complete the days challenges
- High level of patience, Ability to function and work in a stressful environment
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of Program Participants and Shelter Staff.
- Crisis intervention and non-violent mediation skills a plus.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS PREFERRED: Driver license. Trauma informed care. Assertive engagement; first aid and CPR; non-violent crisis intervention; peer support; safe driving; rent well; community warehouse escort; civil right training; bloodborne pathogens training; de-escalation training.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
FACILITY SUPPORT
- Ensure the proper upkeep of both the interior and exterior areas of the property and communicate with the Maintenance Technician regarding potential hazards or necessary repairs needed.
- Uphold proper cleanliness of the Resident Manager Office and Front desk area, performing cleaning duties when needed.
- Oversea while on shift the Front desk, canteen, laundry, and common areas, providing training as necessary in canteen operations, laundry procedures, gym safety requirements, and the storage of cleaning supplies.
- Support vendors on site handling special projects or repairs in the absence of others or as needed.
- Support the facility by emptying trash receptacles in the building as needed, especially during their temporary absences, weekends or situations where those containers are full.
- Maintain the outdoor recreational area, including the upkeep of patio tables, chairs, and the barbecue.
- Maintain the Common areas to include the Gym and Laundry spaces for safety and proper usage.
- Regularly review security camera footage to monitor for suspicious activities both inside and outside the building.
- Report safety concerns or needs to both the Maintenance Technician and the Program Director.
PARTICIPANT SUPPORT
- Must be knowledgeable about The Salvation Army National Social Services Standards (NSSS).
- Complete and initial a log of applicable areas from the NSSS Review Form, noting any non-compliant areas. Take steps to bring those areas into compliance and submit the report to management.
- Conduct participant intakes, exits, and orientations as needed in conjunction with the Site Operations Coordinator, ensuring paperwork is completed and participant files are properly maintained.
- Assign rooms in accordance with established policies and in conjunction with the Site Operations Coordinator.
- Perform random locker checks as needed and/or as the policy establishes.
- Coordinate food services for BOH participants, ensuring proper food safety and storage practices are followed.
- Attend WellSky training and any additional training required by the supervisor.
- Monitor participant activities, including attending house meetings and other program expectations, and updating personal property statements as needed based on policy.
- Provide short-term crisis counseling to program participants.
- Plan, schedule, and submit recreational programming ideas for approval. Participate in all program activities, maintaining open communication with participants.
- Oversee and/or administer Breathalyzer tests when requested or when participants return to the program site.
- Supervise the collection of urine specimens, ensuring that labeling and transport follow proper security procedures.
- Serve as a role model for participants, demonstrating appropriate dress and behavior.
- Maintain good order within the program site without favoritism in accordance with policies.
- Conduct security rounds at regular intervals during each shift.
- Drive a Salvation Army vehicle for events and activities as needed, if authorized.
- Help coordinate special events at the facility in cooperation with the Site Operations Coordinator. These events include holiday events, retreats, internal dinners, and other events as scheduled.
- Coordinate vacation time with supervisor to ensure coverage for all responsibilities is secure.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with established policies and laws to help maintain the integrity of the total program.
- Obtain pre-approval of the use of vehicles for scheduled events and outings.
- Be present and on time for all staff meetings and program activities as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
- Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
- Ability to operate telephone Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to access and produce information from a computer

- Able to drive a motor vehicle and be certified to drive with The Salvation Army. (Preferred but not required)
- Works on many projects at once in a semi-open office environment with interruptions and noises from voices, telephones, printers.
