Job Summary The Public Relations Specialist plays a key role within the Marketing and Communications Department supporting our public relations efforts that enhance brand, engagement, reputation and growth at Prevea Health and HSHS hospitals in Wisconsin. This position is heavily focused on media relations and collaboratively working with multiple stakeholders and functions to ensure alignment on strategic areas of focus and other identified priorities. It requires excellent communication and organizational skills; a strategic mindset; agility and adaptability for a fast-paced, evolving health care landscape; and a passion for teamwork.
What you will do
- Public Relations Strategy and Execution Develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive public relations strategies and tactics to advance organizational campaigns and strategic priorities. Ensures alignment with brand messaging, organizational goals, and key stakeholder interests.
- Media Relations Supports media relations including, responding to media inquiries, proactively pitching stories, coordinating interviews, and preparing spokespeople and subject matter experts with tailored guidance and talking points. Develops press releases, media kits, and supports events such as press conferences, media tours, and ribbon cuttings. Monitors, analyzes, and reports on media coverage, while maintaining awareness of local, state, national, and industry media landscapes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborates with Creative, Web, Social Media, Marketing, and Internal Communications teams to ensure PR efforts are strategically integrated across all channels. Coordinates content-gathering opportunities that involve media exposure and contributes to content development for distribution across various platforms.
- Writing and Content Development Contributes to writing projects, including award submissions, testimonials, talking points, and other communications materials as assigned, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with organizational voice and objectives.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in public relations, communications, journalism or related field; OR an Associate's Degree with two years relevant experience. Required
Experience Qualifications
- 1-3 years experience working in public relations, communications or journalism Required
- healthcare experience Preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to work as a team or individually and have strong negotiating and analytical skills.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule. This position may involve evening and weekend work to assist with community events.
- Must be organized and detail orientated.
- The ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction is essential.
- Strong and collegial working relationship skills, possessing a high level of diplomacy and effectiveness under pressure situations, are also required.
- Must have strong writing skills.
- Must be able to assist in crisis and/or other events that may require work during off-hours or weekends.
- Strong writing skills and knowledge of public relations, communications and social media practices.
- Ability to work in a large, complex corporate structure with multiple stakeholders and diverse populations (including executive leaders, physicians, patients, consumers, and community partners).
