About the Role

The Manager, Fleet Operations is responsible as part of a 3-person Fleet Manager Team to cover day to day and long-term fleet scheduling/ planning of Matson's Hawaii/CLX/MAX, SPX and AAX vessel schedules, as well as effective tracking and monitoring of competitor vessels for Hawaii, Alaska, China, Guam/Micronesia in Matson competing trade lanes. Provides reporting and data/financial analysis for operations decision making on fleet deployment, performance of vessels, environmental initiatives, and operating alternatives. In coordination with the Fuel Strategy team, helps monitor vessel speed and fuel consumption/CII goals for the Matson owned and chartered fleet. Assist with development/interaction of Fuel Smart to other Matson systems. Works closely with various departments throughout Matson including (but not limited to) Vessel Operations & Engineering, SQES, Sales, Customer Service, Network Operations, and IT as well as SSA Planners in Draper City, UT.

What you'll do:

  • Work with VP Fleet Operations to develop cost effective long-range fleet deployment plans to match capacity with demand and provide value added service to our customers. Work closely with sales, marketing, and customer service on fleet deployments to meet customer expectations in a cost-effective manner.
  • Monitor and maintain schedules in the Fleet Scheduling System (FSS).
  • Work with IT on development of FMP and future transition of FSS to new platform. Test and approve any FSS changes deployed and work with IT department on future enhancements and overall maintenance of the system.
  • Update Matson vessel schedule daily, including monitoring and tracking competitive schedules in Matson trade lanes.
  • Develop financial planning tools to determine costs of different fleet deployments.
  • Ensure & maintain data integrity for vessel fuel dashboard for appropriate services.
  • Work with corporate planning on vessel charters/updated ships models and documents for new vessels
  • Develop the most efficient, cost-effective dry dock schedules in combination with relative parties for CLX/CLX+/CCX/CAX and AAX vessels.

  • Organization skills and high level of attention to detail with ability to prioritize/multitask
  • Operations / Logistics Planning skills
  • TWIC card required
  • Some business travel may be required.

The annual salary range is posted for this position in California is $128,300 - $166,780. The salary offered will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
