Summary: Plays a pivotal role in keeping facilities and equipment running smoothly during second shift. Work is performed with some latitude for independent judgment. Work is supervised by the Maintenance Director and is reviewed periodically to assure conformity with departmental policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Work Environment: Mix of office and hands-on work in garage area and exposes the employee to various fumes and gases from vehicle exhaust, solvents, grease, oils, paint and other chemical hazards and extreme weather conditions while working outside. Physical Demands: Work involves the regular, and at times sustained, performance of physical tasks such as walking, bending, stooping, and lifting or carrying moderately heavy (20-50 pounds) objects and occasionally very heavy (50 pounds or over) objects. Mental Demands: Manage multiple maintenance tasks and personal issues simultaneously while remaining calm and effective during emergencies. Supervision Exercised: Vehicle Technicians and Servicers Compensable Qualifications: High School Diploma or G.E.D; Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred. Minimum of five years of vehicle maintenance and/or service experience + two years in a supervisory role or any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the above listed knowledge, skills and abilities. License/Certification Required: Valid Connecticut drivers' license; and meet the SEAT's driving record Must quality for and pass the certification test on forklift operation within 30 calendar days of appointment. Class B CDL with P Endorsement and Air Brakes within 90 calendar days of appointment. |
