Description

The Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) publishes more than 80 peer-reviewed journals (and growing) focused on chemistry and chemistry-related topics. The Division has domestic facilities in Washington, D.C. and Columbus OH, as well as worldwide operations in a growing number of international locations including but not limited to the UK, Singapore, and China.

The Sr Director, Revenue Operations, will report to the VP, Sales and work collaboratively with the Global Sales Directors and other unit leaders and their teams to drive the ease and efficiency of revenue operations in support of revenue goals.

The incumbent will inherit and be accountable for the performance of an established and highly functioning organization comprised of primary verticals supporting Revenue Growth through enhancing Revenue Operations; Sales Contracts; and Sales Product Development. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

1. Implements and continuously reinvigorates technologies, systems and tools to ensure the availability of stable and usable systems that maximize performance against revenue goals.

2. Develops existing and implements new product pricing/process methodologies and models connected to sales strategies.

3. Advises the business functions on risks when decisions arise involving tradeoffs in functionality, performance, timing and costs with business systems modifications or implementations.

4. Develops staff and continuously refines roles to ensure resource allocation supports both the tactical & strategic objectives of the organization.

5. Provides clear direction to strengthen and develop talent across the Sales and Operations departments by empowering employees through regular mentoring, guiding, coaching and training.

6. Performs other duties as assigned.



1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree preferred.

2. Expert-level technical knowledge/fluency in current and evolving CRM systems, tools, products, and processes.

3. Excellent communications, interpersonal and project leadership skills.

4. Confidence to work independently as well as to take initiative as needed.

5. Professional strength to lead and influence at all levels of the organization, both vertically and horizontally.

6. Strong critical thinking and situational judgment skills.

7. Natural curiosity and internal drive to affect continuous improvement.

8. A comfortable multi-tasker who can adjust to changing priorities and respond to time-critical scenarios in a dynamic environment.

9. Leadership style that engages, empowers, and actuates.

10. Scientific and/or publishing experience preferred.
