Summary of Job Duties:The Front Office Assistant serves as a key representative of the Office of the Dean of Students and contributes to a welcoming, efficient, and service-oriented environment. This position supports the overall functioning of the front office through professional interaction with students, faculty, staff, and visitors, while assisting with general administrative processes.

As the first point of contact for the office, the Front Office Assistant plays an essential role in shaping the student and campus community experience. This position supports student success by ensuring smooth front-office operations, reinforcing access to critical student services, and promoting a culture of care and responsiveness.

This is a high-trust role requiring professionalism, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information. The Front Office Assistant is expected to work independently and collaboratively, exercise sound judgment in daily interactions, and contribute to a respectful and inclusive office culture.

This position will develop UA Career-Ready skills such as communication, professionalism, teamwork, critical thinking, equity and inclusion, and technology.

Looking for someone available to work Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:30 to 3pm (7 hours total/week). Additional hours are available throughout the week up to 3 to 5 hours hours/week.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a currently enrolled UARK student

  • Federal Work Study Award required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior Front Desk, Administrative, or Customer Service Experience- experience working in an office, reception, or customer-facing role, preferable in higher education or student services environment

  • Interest in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or Service-Oriented Work- a genuine interest in supporting students and learning more about university operations and student development

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • General knowledge of university departments, student support offices, and campus processes

  • Professionalism and dependability skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), general online navigation, and Teams

  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to accurately complete clerical tasks

  • Ability to provide friendly, courteous, and solution focused service

  • Ability to professionally handle incoming calls, manage inquiries, and be resourceful

  • Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with integrity and in compliance with FERPA and university policies

  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision
