Overview

Work in a small team of Engineers, Docking Supervisors, and hourly technicians. Work tasks will include the following:

    Docking and undocking of nuclear powered submarines to include liaising with various departments within the organization to obtain requisite support for each evolution and the lay day period.
  • Launching new construction nuclear powered submarines.
  • Manage the periodic preventative maintenance (daily, monthly, yearly, etc.) of material and equipment related to EB dock certification.
  • Update and maintain critical technical documents pertaining to the certification of all docks (maintenance manuals, operating manuals, facility certification reports, etc.)
  • Submittal and tracking of NAVSEA letters through local SUPSHIP representatives.
  • Manage the control inspection schedule and execution for all graving docks.
  • Must become familiar with MIL-STD 1625 and Naval Ship's Technical Manual (NSTM) Chapter 997.
  • Ensure dock operations are in compliance with CT State environmental regulations.
  • Work with EB planners and purchasing agents to procure all services and material to maintain the structural and mechanical reliability of all EB dock assets.
  • Work closely with various department to prioritize EB support and budget to maintain both the Dry-docks and floating assets.
  • Candidate must be willing to travel for various amounts of time to support evolutions.
  • Candidate is expected to become "Project Manager" qualified. This involves the ability to communicate with multiple departments and vendors about the scope of the job, schedule, and possible hazards.


Qualifications

Required:

  • BS degree in Engineering
  • 2 - 5 years of engineering experience

Preferred:

  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD 1625 and Naval Ship Technical Manual Chapter 997
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements, including water discharge, ballast water, dock certification, barge classification
  • Understanding of weather, particularly evaluating marine forecast for vessel transportation
  • General marine industry knowledge; marine terminology; line handling


Skills

  • Candidate is NOT required to be Facility Operation Supervisor (FOS) qualified, but the willingness to become qualified is required. This consists of traveling to other shipyards to get "on the job" training.
  • Candidate must have a proven track record in the areas of safety, quality, cost, schedule, process improvement, and communications.
  • Candidate must be able to promote a positive team environment and be highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Candidate must have the ability to interact with all levels of management, the customer, and Human Resources and be able to ensure EEO and OSHA compliance.
  • Excel; Microsoft Office
  • Interpersonal Skills to work in a fast pace environment with all levels of the work force
