The successful candidate willbe responsible for various multi-disciplinary engineering tasks related to spacecraft, space mission design, and systems engineering. Technical tasks may include requirements development, trade studies, spacecraft design, system sizing, trajectory/orbital analysis, modeling and simulation, thermal analysis, and mechanical design and analysis. Work may include AMA developed concepts as well as engineering services for NASA or commercial Aerospace companies. Systems may include a range of manned and unmanned space vehicles, including satellites, capsules, lifting bodies, and launch vehicles as well as design, analysis and planning. The successful candidate will be expected to provide mentorship to junior engineers and support mid-career engineers in leadership opportunities. The successful candidate may support growing organizational capabilities in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning. The position will require responsibilities that engage a very wide breadth of activities across subject matter.Candidates are required to have excellent communication skills. Salary range: $80-$115/hour

Job Requirements:

  • Master's Degree of PhD in Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or a similar field.
  • Minimum 20 years of applicable work-related experience.
  • Strong multi-disciplinary background including systems engineering.
  • Experience with systems and architectural analysis, including parametric system modeling.
  • Knowledge of various spacecraft subsystems, e.g. structures, thermal, GN&C, power, avionics, propulsion, etc.
  • Ability to interface successfully with customers
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Desired Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of contemporary civil, i.e. NASA, mission concepts
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers
