Position Title: Senior Internal Communications Specialist

Reporting Manager Title: Senior Manager - Digital Workplace

FLSA Status: Exempt

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3-days a week in office)

Position Summary:

The Senior Internal Communications Specialist will be responsible for managing internal communications strategies and intranet management. In this role the specialist will ensure effective communication across the organization, fostering a cohesive and engaged workforce. The specialist will also support senior leadership with internal communication needs, including message development, which will ensure consistent and effective messaging throughout the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinates and prepares communication materials for company-wide meetings, town halls, and other internal events. Creates and implements initiatives to enhance employee engagement and foster a positive company culture, along with comprehensive internal communication strategies aligned with organizational goals, creating content that reflects the tone, culture, and values of the organization. Works with the Digital Workplace manager on the strategy, development, and continuous improvement of the company intranet. Ensures the intranet is user-friendly, current, and serves as a central hub for internal communication and resources. Regularly updates and manages intranet content to ensure it is relevant, accurate, and engaging. Collaborates with various departments to gather and disseminate information through the intranet. Works closely with IT and other relevant teams to address technical issues and enhance intranet functionality. Implements best practices for intranet governance, including user permissions and content standards. Provides training and support to employees on how to effectively use the intranet. Develops resources and guides to help employees navigate and utilize the intranet effectively. Writes, edits, and distributes internal communications, including newsletters, emails, announcements, and presentations, while crafting clear, engaging, and consistent messaging across various communication channels. Measures and analyzes the effectiveness of internal communication strategies and adjust as needed. Collects and analyzes employee feedback to improve communication processes and content.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or related roles.
  • Proven experience in intranet management and digital communication platforms.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with diplomacy
  • Proficiency in using communication tools and software.
  • Strong analytical skills to measure communication effectiveness and employee engagement.
  • Knowledge of best practices in employee engagement and change management.
  • Working knowledge of social software and other web-based technologies (Unily, Sharepoint, Asana)

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to stand, walk, and sit.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Our company offers a dynamic hybrid work arrangement, which requires three days on-site work. Our retail roles are required to be onsite at the branch locations.
