About The Role

We are searching for an ambitious Mortgage Loan Originator to join our growing Mortgage Team! This is an entry level Junior position, servicing the Davis County or Weber & Box Elder Counties with support to other FCBU locations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops origination techniques including sales and analytic skills in order to support customers seeking a mortgage loan
  • Keeps informed of current trends in mortgage lending and market factors affecting mortgage lending.
  • Reviews and evaluates information on mortgage loan documents to determine if borrower, property, and loan conditions meet Bank and regulatory standards.
  • Approves or rejects loan application or requests additional information.
  • Evaluates acceptability of loan on secondary mortgage markets.
  • Educates the borrower on the terms and conditions of an approved loan and their financial responsibility of the loan.
  • Calls or visits customers who are delinquent on their loan payment (may not be applicable to brokered loans).
  • Protects the Bank on all levels from fraud and reputation risk.
  • Markets the Bank's mortgage lending program to companies and individuals within the real estate community.
  • Cross-sells other Bank services.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to: the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
  • Adhere to the FCB Bank Values and Purpose
  • Keeps management appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant problems
  • Provide superior internal and external customer service: must demonstrate self-governance, courtesy and respect toward external customers as well as internal customers (all organization personnel).
  • Professionally answer phones within a timely manner, greeting all customers, learning their names, discussing reasonable solutions by having a solid understanding of bank products and services, demonstrating leadership to resolve customer issues and provide relevant assistance while being courteous and respectful.
  • Represent FCB in a professional manner which includes a professional image, confidentiality, a positive "can-do" attitude, good attendance, punctuality, flexibility, and adaptability in meeting bank and customer needs. Keep work area tidy and maintain highest integrity of sensitive information.
  • Attends and participates in weekly or bi-weekly One-on-Ones, as well as meetings and trainings as required. Promote behaviors to support and track Key Performance Indicators

About You

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Entry Level - Sales experience preferred
  • Comfortable identifying and reaching out to potential customers through various channels like cold calling or networking.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Possess a valid Driver's License

First Community Bank of Utah will conduct a credit and background screening as a part of the pre-hire process.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Incumbents are required to maintain their registration active, and current, with the National Mortgage Licensing System throughout their employment

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Primarily at a desk in a climate controlled environment. Regular travel to FCBU branches will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job, as well as the proper licensing to drive.

Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Occassionally may require lifting of up-to 20 lbs.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Starting salary is dependent upon relevant experience and may vary based on the geographic location of the position.
