Tyler Union, a division of McWane, Inc., has proudly served the waterworks industry for over a century, specializing in the manufacturing and distribution of ductile iron fittings, joint restraints, and valve boxes is looking for a Senior Project Engineer for its Anniston facility. Tyler Union's main manufacturing facility is located in Anniston, AL.

The Senior Project Engineer will manage complex engineering projects within the foundry or machining areas, focusing on process improvement, equipment upgrades, and new technology implementation. This role requires a deep understanding of foundry operations, metallurgy, and manufacturing systems. The ideal candidate will drive innovation and ensure project alignment with strategic goals.Proactively promotes The McWane Way principals, values, and behaviors and lives the Compass Culture.

Job Description

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote and uphold The McWane Way principles, values, and behaviors.
  • Adhere to safety protocols outline in the Tyler Union Safety Management Program.
  • Assist supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow ergonomic and safe lifting techniques.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and report any issues.

Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Lead cross-functional engineering projects from concept through implementation, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Analyze foundry processes and identify opportunities for efficiency, cost reduction, and quality improvement.
  • Design and implement upgrades to melting, molding, and finishing operations.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, production, and quality teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation including scope, schedules, budgets, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies and automation systems.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and interns.
  • Support capital expenditure planning and justification.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Metallurgical Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • Five years of engineering experience in a foundry or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale engineering projects.
  • Strong knowledge of foundry practices, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, industrial ventilation, and fluid flow.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and project management tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management training is desirable.
Additional Information

Physical & Cognitive Abilities

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
  • Primarily on-site in a foundry environment with exposure to heat, noise, and industrial equipment.
  • Occasional travel to vendors, sister facilities, or industry events.
