Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position in the United States is $182,820 - $242,178. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Join Our Team as a Director-Electronics Hardware!

The Director - Electronics Hardware will lead multiple electronic engineering teams. This includes teams that develop the next generation of power electronic enabled electronic controls. This role also leads the support products already in production ensuring the quality and reliability of S&C electronic designs meet the rigorous requirements of customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & People Management: Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing department comprised of multiple teams led by managers. Role model appropriate and professional workplace behaviors, address/mediate conflicts to restore harmony, and support a positive, healthy and inclusive workplace culture in accordance with S&C's mission, vision, values and guiding principles. Manage departmental administrative team member processes, including but not limited to recruitment, induction, vacation management, performance reviews, performance improvement plans, and workforce/succession planning. Proactively establish, monitor, and hold team members and outside resources accountable to clear responsibilities and expectations, provide ongoing performance feedback, both positive and developmental, address performance gaps in a timely manner, recognize and reward achievements, and initiate decisions for corrective actions and terminations where required.

  • Strategic Vision: Develops and implements long-term strategies for electronic engineering capabilities, considering industry trends and organizational goals.

  • Product Engineering Leadership: Oversee product engineering for multiple electronic product lines, ensuring excellent product engineering support for internal and external customers. Sets vision and direction for Product Engineering leaders to align to when setting short-term operational goals related to customer support, product quality, product cost, and operational efficiency.

  • Development Engineering Leadership: Work with Development Engineering team leaders to provide product expertise and staff major product development projects with high-performing product development engineers. Set vision and direction for Development Engineering leaders to align to when setting goals related to product development quality and efficiency, team member development, innovation, and process improvements.

  • Talent Management: Responsible for creating workforce and staffing plans for department to ensure a strong bench of of high- performing team members and leaders required to execute the missions of Product Engineering and Development Engineering teams. Facilitate robust team member development by working with team managers and individuals to create development plans and encourage purposeful team member mobility across the Product Engineering and Development Engineering fucntions.

  • Operational Planning: Directs the execution of organizational strategies established by executive leadership. Establishes operational plans for their teams with short-to mid-term impact.

  • Techical Expertise: Subject matter expert for products they oversee. Represents their products and S&C with external customers and internal stakeholders. Typically have exposure and visibility in industry and with customers in a technical capacity.

  • Customer Feedback: Manage incoming customer-related product feedback from Salesforce and commercial teams. Lead teams to assess and implement necessary changes to improve product performance. Represent the company in key client meetings and site visits, fostering strong relationships and addressing customer concerns effectively.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with senior leaders across functions to ensure all stakeholder needs are considered in defining and communicating business decisions and resolving organizational constraints.

  • Electronic Lab Support: Assign responsibilities and track progress for supporting electronic lab facilities in multiple physical locations for areas including safety and ESD compliance.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Facilitate generation of technical documentation, procedures, and reports to document processes, ensuring plans can be easily communicated and understood by a variety of teams throughout the organization.

  • Budget Support: Creates, monitors, reports and controls budget for the department. Makes recommendations related to capital and resource investment.

  • Continuous Learning: Promote a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration, promoting cross-functional interactions and knowledge sharing among team members. Drive continuous improvement initiatives for process improvements, gathering feedback, analyzing data, and implementing enhancements to optimize performance and efficiency.

What you'll Need To Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or a related engineering field.
    12+ years of experience in managing engineers and technicians, ideally with 5+ years managing electronics product development teams and product line leadership.
  • Sound knowledge of S&C's products, or similar product offerings, along with the needs and trends of the industry. In-depth knowledge of product lifecycles, manufacturing processes, and industry trends within electrical manufacturing.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a diverse team of engineers.
  • Sound business sense and analytical skills with the ability to use and analyze data to drive informed decisions, solve complex problems, and drive learning.
  • Rounded communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation); able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, from executive leaders to support staff, and present compellingly to achieve buy-in from leaders and team members.
  • Great interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, navigate and resolve conflict, moderate behaviors, and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.
  • Financial acumen and numerical ability to manage budgetary resources to maximum effectiveness.
  • Ability to travel.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or a related engineering field.
